Girl Scouts Service Unit 8
Where Do Local Troops Go On Extended Trips?
After completing local overnight adventures some troops decide to travel
further afield. Girl Scouts defines "extended trips" as
those which are away from home for three or more consecutive nights or
travel more than 250 miles from home - one way. Juniors and older
girls can go on extended trips, but there are age minimums for various
destinations. For specific age information download the
Time
Schedule For Traveling Troops.
Traveling troop leaders are required to attend the
Travel Troop Basics
workshop prior to submitting the "Notification of Intent to Travel"
form.
The Notification of Intent to Travel form, and later, the
Readiness to Travel form must be approved by the Council Travel
Troop Committee. Following each trip a Trip Evaluation is
turned in to the Council and kept on file for other troops to review.
There also are a Travel Troop Health Record Log and
a Travel Troop Medication Log
to be brought on the trip and to be filled out in case of any health care provided.
Please share your trip experiences by filling out this form
and e-mailing it to Ingrid Voss. Check out the
trip reports below.
